Strawberry Ice Cream
This easy, quick recipe highlights all those farm fresh strawberries available locally at this time of the year. I love to serve this with a touch of Nana's Hot Fudge
Ingredients
- 3 cups fresh strawberries or your favorite super fresh, soft fruit
- 1 cup sugar divided
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanila extract
Instructions
- Wash the strawberries
- Mix the strawberries with a half cup of the sugar and let sit for at least 15 minutes
- Blend the strawberries in a blender or mash with a fork until as smooth as you like
- Add the blended strawberries, the other half cup of sugar and vanilla to the cream/milk mixture
- Place the ice cream mixture into the frozen insert of an ice cream maker
- Blend until cold and soft - typically about 30 minutes
- Eat right away for soft serve or place in a container and freeze until set. Eat with all your favorite toppings (full disclosure - the ice cream went so fast, I didn't have time to take a picture in a bowl!)
