Even I know that is an odd title but as I was thinking about the Thanksgiving recipe I wanted to share with you all this week, I realized that I am, in fact, grateful for gravy.
I first remember eating a (decidedly gluten-filled) version of this delicious gravy at my my Aunt Ann’s house on Thanksgiving. Both she and my mother could effortlessly make gravy with one hand tied behind their backs while wrangling 11 kids, two husbands and at least a couple of dogs – no easy task.
As I got older, and began to host Thanksgivings, I realized that those gals had some gravy skills! Although I had to ask my mom to show me her tricks and do a little experimenting to make the gravy gluten free, I think of those strong, lovely women every time I make it. My mom passed away a few years ago, and Ann is alive and well enjoying Thanksgiving with her kids and grandchildren this week.
It is in their honor that I share this Great Gravy recipe with you today. It’s a Thanksgiving life saver – easy and delicious every time. I hope it’s a great addition to your holiday table.
I wish you and yours a happy Thanksgiving full of family, friends and fabulous food.
As I mentioned in my last post, Bill and I head to Thailand for two weeks on Thanksgiving day. We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to take this incredible trip. I’ll post pictures of our adventures and food finds on Instagram and Facebook, so please follow along.
I’ll be back with a new recipe and, likely, a new attitude on Monday December 10th.
