Anyone else remember this song from the PBS show Zoom in the 70’s? Who knew it would be the word of the day for many of us this week. I am sad not to be enjoying a big Thanksgiving meal with the Kenney Family on Thursday but I know I will be thankful for opportunities to see everyone safe and healthy in the weeks to come.
Even though we are missing family and friends, I imagine that many of us are creating new traditions this year. At our house, we’ll participate in a loud, lively, laughter-filled Zoom call with Team Kilpatrick on Thursday. The call will bring us together from Upstate New York, Minnesota and both Southern and Northern California. Admittedly, this is a bit of a head slap moment for me, as we could have been doing this for years!
Food, as always, can bring us together too. From Curried Squash Soup to Great Gravy to Mashed Potatoes to Brussel Sprouts with Maple Glaze, I know that each of these time-tested recipes will be just as delicious for a tiny Thanksgiving table as they are for a crowd.
I wish you a joyful meal your small family both at home and across the miles. We must take one for the team this year, and find ways to celebrate while keeping our loved ones safe and healthy.
Check back in after the holiday as I’ll be back to every other Friday posts beginning December 4th.
