Arguably a better description of my cooking skills than my temperament, this classic phrase is perfect for this week’s Asian Cucumber Salad.
I had a little adventure on Friday. I discovered a fabulous farmer’s market. On University Avenue, just east of Dale street is a Hmong farmer’s market I was delighted and a bit overwhelmed with the bounty. I quickly grabbed these beautiful cucumbers for the Asian Cucumber Salad and then made my way down aisle after aisle of gorgeous, fresh, unique vegetables.
I filled my re-usable bags with a variety of unique vegetables, including baby eggplants, peppers and long beans. I asked for the farmers suggestions and look forward to creating some new recipes this week. Like many of you, I love to discover new places and foods and visiting this market felt like winning the lottery – as my dad used to say “you learn something new every day”
Check back in the coming weeks for new recipes as I get a handle on how to celebrate these lovely vegetables.
Also – tune in next Friday as I’ll be posting the September and October cooking classes in KilKenney Kitchen. I will highlight fresh ingredients and focus on sharing great recipes, tips and techniques for gluten free (along with a variety of other food allergies and sensitivities). Please share any and all of your ideas for cooking classes.
I wish you a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend with your friends and family.
