Baked Ham
This is a regular in our house, especially for Easter. I rely on my old, tattered Joy of Cooking when baking a ham. I've created my own glaze, but the cooking times never fail. I think you'll enjoy this basic, delicious ham.
Ingredients
The Ham
- 1 5-7 pound half ham fully cooked, gluten free
The Glaze
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons orange juice or more as needed
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Bake the Ham
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
- Remove the ham from the packaging and place it in a large roasting pan. Check the ingredients on the ham to be sure it's gluten free. Occasionally starches will be added.
- Cover the pan loosely with foil and roast for 20 minutes per pound - about 2 hours for a 7 pound ham
Make the Glaze
- Combine the 1 cup brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons orange juice and 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a small bowl
- Mix to combine and set aside
Glaze the Ham
- Remove the ham from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees
- Score the ham and brush all over with the glaze
- Once the oven has reached 425 degrees, reduce the temperature back to 325. Return the glazed ham to the oven for 30 minutes or until the glaze has browned nicely.
- Serve with my famous Ham Sauce and your favorite sides for a terrific meal!
