Transition Time

The end of summer is upon us and the holiday weekend is here.  We’ve had a wonderful summer here in KilKenney Kitchen and I’m looking forward to a fall full of food, friends, family and fun (how’s that for alliteration?)

We sent our younger son, Charlie, off to the University of MN this week.  He’s officially a Golden Gopher and I’m officially working on thinking about him as an adult rather than a teenager.  I’m trying not to take it personally that he had the car packed and ready to go 24 hours before he moved in!

It’s such an odd dichotomy.  I’m at once thrilled that he’s off to this great next step in his life and sad that we’ll be celebrating the Labor Day weekend without him.  Interestingly, he doesn’t seem to be struggling with the same sadness!

OK – enough about me and on to the food!  The kitchen has always been my refuge, so thinking about the Labor Day menu has been a great distraction for me this week.  I wanted to share some Labor Day Lovelies so you can enjoy them with your friends and family over the holiday weekend.  I’ve placed eight recipes on the blog that highlight the best of late summer – both grilled favorites and produce.  These two beauties are just a sampling. I hope you’ll try a few! (click here on the KilKenney Kitchen site to see the recipe grid)

PS – I will share the Pressure Cooker Barbecue Pork recipe with you next Friday.  Transition time got the better of me this week .
