Less Labor, More Love

Happy Labor Day!  I can feel the air beginning to cool as I sit on the porch here in at our cabin in Northern Wisconsin this morning.  Fall is truly on it’s way, and, with it, a new spirit in the Kitchen.

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes feel a little out of sorts as we roll into a new season.  Fall is a particular challenge as everyone’s schedules seem to change.  That easy-going summer pace is replaced with lively weeks of school, homework, college applications, activities, sports, meetings etc..

My goal this year in the Kitchen is to meet the season head-on.  I will create a variety of recipes for easy, delicious meals using techniques and methods that result in less labor for you, and more love for everyone at your dinner table.  We’re going to dig out that slow cooker, whip up some make-ahead and double duty dishes, and have some fun along the way.

Pork Chops in a Fine Brine are a perfect example.  A couple of minutes of preparation before you head out the door in the morning lead to moist, flavorful pork chops on the grill ready to enjoy when it works for you and your family.

Brining is one of my go-to techniques to impart flavor, and juiciness to both pork and chicken – you’ll see some more brininess happening later this fall.

I hope you enjoy this pork recipe – it goes wonderfully with my Chunky Applesauce and a quick salad, creating a quick, easy, delicious meal.
